Water is the leading cause of property loss and it can wreak havoc on your home.

Most claims of water damage begin with a small leak. If left unnoticed and untreated a small leak can turn into a bigger problem. It is estimated that water losses cost the insurance industry $2.5 billion a year in the United States and the average cost of a home water damage insurance claim is $6,965.

Leaks can occur from a variety of sources from faulty refrigerator lines to toilet and HVAC pan overflows. When leaks are left untreated they can not only create additional property damage but they can also create mold growth which is detrimental to your health. Any area that sustains water damage and is not completely dry within 72 hours is likely to grow mold.

Rumsey Construction and Restoration has 24/7 365 emergency response to assist you if you ever have water damage. When you call RCR we rush to the scene of the damage to mitigate the water damage. We first find the source of the water and make sure that no more water is leaking or seeping in. Once we have stopped the flow, we extract the water as quickly as possible using commercial grade extractors. Then we clean away silt and sterilize gray or black water in damaged areas (i.e. sewage). Then we begin the dry out process immediately to prevent the growth of mold. We set up commercial fans and dehumidifiers to dry the area as quickly as possible. Once everything is dry we use thermal detectors to determine what needs to be restored. Often drywall and carpeting cannot be salvaged if it is wet for too long. After removing damaged items, we restore your home to its original condition, rebuilding walls, ceilings, restoring floors, and any other structural damage.

Up to 93% of the cost of water damage could have been prevented with proper leak management so if you are worried that your home might have a leak it is imperative to get a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor to inspect and prevent any further damage.
