Rumsey Construction and Restoration focuses on insurance restoration (fire damage, water damage, storm damage), but we are a general contractor with the capacity and experience to do large and small jobs of any nature. As a general contractor we are licensed with the State of South Carolina to manage projects that require a multitude of skill sets. Our projects include various subcontractors like electricians, flooring installers, tiling experts, plumbers, and even smaller contractors like Punch List Pros that can handle the smaller details of the job that we would not normally handle in house.
When you work with a general contractor you are hiring someone to manage your project from start to finish. In the event of an insurance restoration job like a fire or smoke damage we would mitigate the water smoke damage, and structure cleaning and also physically repair your home to pre-loss condition or better – but as a licensed general contractor we would also manage all of the moving pieces of the project such as electrical, HVAC or duct work cleaning, packing out your contents, cleaning your contents, installing flooring and cabinets etc.
The main difference between a company like Rumsey Construction and Restoration and Punch List Pros in terms of remodeling jobs is scope. As a general contractor we will focus on larger projects, we would pick out and deliver the material, and we would decide which subcontractors would work on your project. If you hire a company like Punch List Pros, they will do smaller projects like installing a countertop, staining a deck, or painting cabinets.
It can be confusing knowing what kind of company to choose for your project but when in doubt calling a reputable company that can refer you to a smaller outfit if necessary is a great choice.

· Small repairs or alterations to a structure
Examples of work that a General Contractor would handle:
· Remodeling (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room etc.)
· Restoring a home after fire, water, or storm damage
· Building an addition onto your home
· Repairing or replacing roofs
· Managing a rebuild process from start to finish including managing and hiring subcontractors, obtaining necessary permits, and scheduling inspections
